Times New Roman|Type Specimen Book

I was assigned to design the Times New Roman type specimen book. One of the most distinct feature of Times New roman is that it accommodates the legibility that newspaper type needs when printed at small sizes on low-quality paper. The book is printed by only CMYK print colours to reflect the idea of newspaper print. The book is composed by two different narratives, one is the introduction and history of Times New Roman, the other is an article about breathing in order to reflect the features of Times New Roman, it is a well-designed font that no one ever pays attention to, breathing is essential yet invisible in the same way.

Times New Roman is one of today’s most familiar and widely used typefaces. It is a traditional serif typeface commissioned by the British newspaper The Times in 1931 and created by Stanley Morison and Victor Lardent in collaboration with the British branch of the printing equipment company Monotype in 1932.
